Changing the subject line of forum notifications in Moodle

Over the past few weeks I’ve been delving into Moodle beta release, in preparation for the 2014 iMoot, and also the special review

we will be doing on The Free Moodle Podcast.  So I’ll be posting some observations and reflections on Moodle 2.7 over the coming weeks.

One small new feature I really like is the ability to changing the subject line of forum notifications – the subject line of emails you get if subscribed to a Forum (or from the News Forum).

Usually when you receive emails from forums, the subject line is of the form:

Course short name + Subject of post

But in Moodle 2.7 Moodle Administrators can change the subject line by going to:

Site administration > Language > Language customisation

and in forum.php changing the string postmailsubject to, for example:

Course short name + Forum name + Subject

If you have a Course with a number of different Forums, this can help make it clearer which Forum emails are from smile
