Moodle new feature review – Course overview block

The new Course overview Block in Moodle 3.3 enables Students to check their course progress and view upcoming deadlines, and Teachers can see activities needing grading.

For items to appear in the Course overview Block it is necessary for Teachers to configure activities and resources correctly.

For activities

  • Either set a deadline or
  • Set an ‘Expect completed on’ date in the activity completion settings
  • For Teachers to see Assignments that need grading a ‘Remind me to grade by’ date must be entered in the assignment set up screen.

For resources

  • Set an ‘Expect completed on’ date in the activity completion settings

For the percentages to display, the course must have Activity Completion enabled.

We can see this is a very useful feature, but could be a lot of work for the Teacher when updating a Course for a repeat run.

Hi Stuart I have been following your post for awhile thankyou! I was wondering if you could answer a question ( the closest I have come to an answer is ; Moodle cloud doesn’t offer ) the question is how can I access a quiz that is scrambled after log out. The process for testing I have/ want to use is the student log in and gets a scrabbled version of the quiz and prints a copy ( this I can do) the next part is the student logs out and takes the paper ( supervised ) to their desk and next step log in and enter the exact quiz and record their answers. The reason for this is I need to have a paper copy for my records also I only have 2 testing stations… can you please advise
    Chad
