Moodle Moot Australia 2014

This week I’ve been in the beautiful location of Cairns in Queensland Australia.

Interestingly, the feedback about the first day was extremely negative from many attendees, because the event has been run by NetSpot (Moodle Partner now owned by Blackboard) and a lot of the content during the first day was Blackboard orientated, perhaps even quite “salesy”.  This simply isn’t what the Moodle community want, judging by the feedback. And it’s understandable, because many members of the Moodle community are strong advocates of free and open education, which certainly isn’t what Backboard represent, quite the opposite.

That said, the second and third days of the conference have been a lot better smile

We’ve recorded a few interviews, which will probably will be in The Free Moodle Podcast (iTunes link) in the August episode.

Myself and Teresa presented a workshop and couple of other sessions on MySQL Reporting in Moodle, Staff development at a University, and using Free Moodle resources.  We’ve even managed to find a little bit of time to explore the Great Barrier Reef !
