E-learning App of the month – Hype

Hype for MacOS allows you to create interactive HTML5 web content and animations.Web content and animations made with Tumult Hype work on desktops, smartphones and tablets, with no coding required.

If you created Flash content in the past, you will feel very much at home with Tumult Hype’s keyframe-based animation system.

Timelines, Scenes, Actions and frames will all feel familiar, and Hype packages the Javascript and CSS so you don’t have to (although you can dig deeper and adjust these also).

Finished content can be easily published to a number of formats, although HTML will be the most common, and it can then easily be embedded in Moodle or other websites using just 3 lines of code.

I’ve really enjoyed using Hype over the past few months, and quickly moved from the free version to the paid version for the additional features such as multiple responsive break-points for devices.

If you have never used this type of system before there is a definite learning curve to go through, although the video tutorials and documentation are both quite good.

But if you have used Macromedia Flash and similar systems, you could pick-up the Hype way of working very quickly, and be producing great HTML5 interactive and dynamic content for your Moodle courses very quickly indeed!
