How to create a Facebook type “Like” rating in a Moodle Forum.

If your Moodle site is using the default Boost Theme (or another Theme heavily based on Boost), click Grades, and then Scales.

For other Themes, you can usually locate the side Block for Course administration, and click Grades, and then Scales.

Now add a new Scale with just one item !

The ability to create a Scale with just one item is a fairly recent change in Moodle.

So, this single scale item could be ‘Like‘ – to give the Forum an instant Facebook-like feel 🙂

Or the item could be ‘Useful‘, or even ‘Thanks for posting this‘ for example.

Or if the course participants are younger adults you might elect to go with “Awesome!” 😉

  • I really like the idea! I will try this approach in my courses and hope that my students will enjoy it!
