Gamification

Gamification in Moodle

Over the last few years we’ve heard a lot about gamification (not a word I like) in Moodle.

Like any teaching method, it’s good to have an understanding of the strength, weaknesses, and techniques that can be used, and this ISSUU GameiT handbook is quite a nice primer smile

Of course, learning through games, or through play, is hardly a new movement – my 3 month old daughter is learning most of her new skills through experimentation and play.

The gamification trend is Moodle has been largely brought about by the addition of certain functionality, such as Open Badgesactivity completion, and conditional activities, and I notice there are session on gamification at the upcoming iMoot and the Australian Moodle Moot.

Like any teaching method, it’s good to have an understanding of the strength, weaknesses, and techniques that can be used, and this ISSUU GameiT handbook is quite a nice primer smile
