Have you heard of Moodle Academy?

Whenever there is something worthwhile on Moodle which I am aware of, I jump at the chance and give it a try. Courses in the framework of the Moodle Academy enter that category for sure. I have completed two very good ones:  Make the most of your Moodle forums, and Assessment: Exploring Assignments (two of the courses in the COURSE · EDUCATOR PATHWAY). I can recommend them highly.

Have you heard of the Moodle Academy? According to Moodle.com, It “ is the learning hub for the global Moodle community.  Engage in professional development, earn badges, progress a learning pathway and gain a certificate to help your career as an educator, administrator, designer or developer.

Learning how to use Moodle by taking “courses for educators, from beginner to advanced levels, to learn how to teach online with Moodle” can be followed by taking  The Moodle Educator Certification (MEC) with one MEC Partner (I did so with HRDNZ – e-learning specialists and certified Moodle Partner since 2006.). I have found that even after completing MEC, joining the first two courses offered by Moodle Academy has been worth the time and effort: I have learned more about the use of Moodle Forum both from the course developers and facilitators and from participants who clearly believed that sharing is growing (and they shared a lot!). I have also learned more about Moodle Assignment.

Incidentally, Make the most of your Moodle forums and Assessment: Exploring Assignments are still open. The end date is not set, and you can decide how much time you spend on each course. Mind you: Rushing them will not do because if you do not check what is going on once you have joined, you will miss the valuable input of other participants. That would be a pity.

I am looking forward to taking more courses with Moodle Academy, Since Moodle Academy people “are keen to collaborate with community members to deliver webinars”, who knows what may come next? I might even find myself collaborating (if what I eventually offer is of value to the Moodle Comunity) too. Time will tell.

See by yourself whether Moodle Academy has something for you. I doubt you will regret that.

Be well!
