Moodle Quiz ultimate guide – True/False question

A Student is given just two choices with a Moodle True/False question type. But don’t underestimate it.Although it seems incredibly simple, the True/False question type can feel quite interactive, because you can add images, audio, or even HTML code if you are operating at that level.

So you might have a photo of a famous movie star, but give them the wrong name, and ask if it’s True or False.

Or maybe a photograph of well-known film, and state that a specific actor was the leading role? You could equally apply this approach to political figures, musicians, etc.

Or what about a photo of a sports injury, with a suggested treatment. Is this the best options for this athlete? Basically the ideas can be endless, and it’s more about the creativity of the Teacher than anything else 😉

When feedback is enabled, the appropriate feedback message is shown to the Student after the answer. For example, if the correct answer is “False”, but they answer “True” then the “True” feedback is shown.

Again, don’t ignore the chance to use a nice big tick or “thumbs up” image for the feedback, or a sad face for the wrong response.

Note that the True/False question type in a Moodle Lesson is completely different. True/False question in a Quiz is basically the same as a Multiple Choice question in a Lesson, but with only 2 responses.

One thing that Teacher often ignore if the ‘penalty factor’, which only applies when the question is used in a Quiz set to use adaptive mode. This is where the Student is allowed multiple attempts at a question, even within the same attempt at the quiz. The penalty factor for a True/False question is always 1. So if the Student does not get it right first time, they get no marks on their second attempt … that would just be tooooo easy eh?!
