In reply to <a href="https://www.elearningworld.org/reactive/#comment-2186">Stuart Mealor</a>.

Thank you Stuart.

It's rather complex. I've noticed on my development machine, a local one, that there does seem to be a degradation in performance. But that can be anything. Though when using xDebug on bits of my code that get called by the core API I've noticed the same thing being called over and over again to get the same data from the same parameters. It's difficult to prove though in terms of tools / techniques that demonstrate it. I think there are profiling tools that can assist with this.

To me there is now so much granularity that its difficult to see the wood for the trees and things seem to be wired up like a Christmas tree. But that's only my feeling, and I'd clearly have to back it up with evidence and a way forward to improve things. Such as a reduction in the number of PHP files containing more methods that represent each Mustache template - allowing overriding still.

Very interesting !
I've noticed clients experiencing more and more 'timeout' issues with Moodle pages.
And I wonder whether all this extra code behind the scenes is causing this?
