All admins, and many teachers, will be familiar with the Moodle course URL, which they see ending in /course/view.php?id=123 - with these numbers being the unique course ID.
But using the ID Number or Shortname would be less familiar.
For many Moodle sites it would never be necessary to go beyond the courseid, because courses would be highly unlikely to be moved to another server.
However, I have just been working with a client who changed their business name, and so we needed to change the Moodle site name too - in this case, simple embedded links would have broken (as the search and replace migration tool does not check &#039;content&#039;).
But using the shortname and Filtercodes is the ultimate solution - making it future-proof.]]></description>
