ABC Guide to H5P – Fill in the blanks

An H5P content type that allows teachers to create “fill in the blanks” questions.

Teachers enter text and mark specific words to be replaced with an asterix. In addition to obvious uses such as language learning, fill in the blanks type questions can be used to test the learner’s ability to recall facts, figures, or trivia for fun!

Learners simply fill in the missing words in the text.

The learner can be shown a solution after filling in all the missing words, or after each word, depending on settings chosen by the teacher.

Here is a simple example:

And it’s super simple to setup:

  • Blanks are added with an asterisk (*) in front and behind the correct word/phrase.
  • Alternative answers are separated with a forward slash (/).
  • You can add a textual tip, using a colon (:) in front of the tip.

So, the final questions above was setup using this text:

There are a total of *eight/nine:(Are you counting Pluto?* planets in our solar system.
