Conferences

Australian VET Sector CFPs still open

Are you an instructor or administrator in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) space? Do you have some wisdom to share? There are two conferences in Australia that may be of interest to you and their Call for Presentations is still open but closing soon.

The 2019 National VET Conference is being held in Brisbane on September 12 & 13. The theme this year is Innovate Activate Educate. This conference tends to have a focus on RTO management and compliance. However, there are occasionally great sessions on the delivery of elearning or blended learning in the vocational education sector. The 2018 conference had over 1200 attendees, which opens terrific networking opportunities. The call for presenters is open until January 31, so you’ll have to be quick.

The 28th National VET Research Conference is being held in Adelaide on July 10 to 12. This conference (dubbed ‘No Frills, for the frugal amongst us) has the theme of the student journey: skilling for life. The focus of this conference is on research in the VET sector and would be a good opportunity to meet with other researchers, educators, and consultants. The call for presenters is open until February 18.

Both conferences’ websites refer to Australia’s VET sector, but either would be a great opportunity to open an international dialogue on vocational training. Why not share your experiences and research and submit a speaking proposal today?

Upcoming Asia Pacific Moots

MoodleMoot Japan is coming up soon! The Shizuoka Institute of Science and Technology will host MootJP19 from February 27 to March 1. Don’t speak Japanese? Not to worry, this Moot is bilingual Japanese and English, and it looks like there are some great sessions.

MoodleMoot Philippines has been announced for May 8 to 10, but not many details have been announced yet. We’ll keep you updated as information becomes available. This will be their second Moot; you might recall Stuart was a keynote speaker for MootPH18.
