Dig into Digital and Moodle: Summing up
My latest posts on ElearningWorld have attempted to give a glimpse into how The English Inspectorate, Israel Ministry of Education has customized and tailored Moodle courses to meet the needs of Israel’s pupils (and teachers!) in the public, free State- School system. I am a teacher “in the field” (I have been teaching teenagers in the same High School for 33 years now), so the glimpse you get is from a teacher’s perspective.
As a Moodle enthusiast,I am happy to have also been given the opportunity to add my two cents (I helped develop two Moodle Courses / Templates)
Concerning the Moodle courses, The English Inspectorate is nowadays reaching teachers of English by means of the Ministry of Education Teacher’s Portal, Webinars, Conferences, Professional Development Workshops, etc. Teachers are introduced to the courses, get to know the possibilities they offer, and eventually, use them with pupils. This takes time and effort,.
One means of reaching teachers is the Dig Into Digital – Israel Ministry of Education Teachers Portal: Elementary, Junior High School, High School (while you cannot access the Moodle Courses themselves, you can access contents that will help you “see” them). Click on the links to learn more.
To sum up, under the leadership of Dr. Tziona Levi – Director, English Language Education. Ministry of Education, Israel, a group of National Counselors (all teachers) who took up this project have brought a wind of change into teaching English in K-12 in Israel. This change is bound to have an impact on many people. I believe that that takes openness, innovation, and daring.
