New Zealand Human Rights Commission

Find out how the New Zealand Human Rights Commission are using Moodle with HRDNZ…

The Commission’s purpose is to promote and protect the human rights of all people in Aotearoa New Zealand. We work for a free, fair, safe and just New Zealand, where diversity is valued and human dignity and rights are respected.

Originally starting with a Moodle Cloud site in 2017, the Human Rights Commission quickly realised they needed a more ‘serious’ environment for their ambitious project to provide Moodle courses for the whole of New Zealand’s 4 million people population.

Moving from a Moodle Cloud environment to a Moodle hosting and support agreement with HRDNZ (Certified Moodle Partner in New Zealand since 2006) was coordinated by Stuart Mealor (Managing Director of HRDNZ) and Grant Carran (Human Rights Commission E‑Learning Project Manager).

Within a month, the site was transferred and active on it’s new dedicated site: https://learn.hrc.co.nz

The Theme of the Moodle site had to match the wider identity of the Commission, and it sits well with the main online presence: https://www.hrc.co.nz

Alongside the standard Moodle activities and resources, the site also makes heavy use of plugin technologies such as H5P, and Adapt.

The site now provides around a dozen courses for New Zealanders exploring the role of Human Rights both nationally, and internationally.

Contact helpdesk[AT]hrdnz.com if you would like to discuss how we might be able to support your Moodle project and site 🙂
