Moodle 3.8 new feature – forum grading (and more)

Forums can be the powerhouse of some Moodle courses…

If you use forums a lot, and like to grade participation, then Moodle 3.8 has some great new features, including:

  • New forum grading interface
  • Display a grading form in the grading panel
  • A button to display the entire discussion for a post being graded
  • ‘Require grade’ an activity completion criterion for the forum
  • Forum grading user search
  • Forum grading option to send notification to Students
  • Forum view grades option for Students
  • Restricting the user list to a specific group

Forums are further enhanced for Teachers by:

  • Teacher can export forum discussions, and view a detailed summary report of student activity
  • Select and test a new experimental nested discussion view from the forum preferences page

If your courses use forums to drive the interaction, then many of these features will make life more interesting and fun for sure!
